Quotations: Equality
The sweltering summer of the Negro’s legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. If liberty and equality, as is thought by some, are chiefly to be found in democracy, they will be best attained when all persons alike share in the government to the utmost.
Complete equality isn't compatible with democracy, but it is a agreeable to totalitarianism. After all the only way to ensure the equality of the slothful, the inept and the immoral is to suppress everyone else.
Democracy does not guarantee equality of conditions - it only guarantees equality of opportunity.
